
Tashanna Walker
Ph.D.

Dr. Walker’s expertise lies in urban geography, with a focus on the complex interplay of militarization, redevelopment, and state power within urban environments, particularly in the Caribbean context. Her research has been supported by various fellowships and organizations including the Social Science Research Council and the American Association of University Women.
She is currently a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the City University of New York, City College and adjuncts at the State University of New York, Old Westbury. Dr. Walker has held research positions at the GCHU, Oxford University, the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Amsterdam.

Beyond her academic appointments, Dr. Walker has collaborated with a range of stakeholders including community groups, government agencies, and international development organizations such as the Philadelphia Education Fund, USAID and UNESCO. She is the co-founder of the Philadelphia High School STEM Diversity Initiative, founder of the Trench Town Youth Empowerment Group in Jamaica, and the co-founder of the Emerging Scholars Scholarship and Bursary Program.
